Heat pumps can operate in cooler weather, but efficiency and recovery time depend on the outdoor temperature and the specific model. Discuss the product’s operating range and installation location during assessment.
Can I use it with my rooftop solar?
A suitable system and schedule can make use of daytime solar electricity. Your installer should help assess controls, your solar generation and household hot water demand.
How do I know which tank size I need?
Consider household size, showers, baths, simultaneous use and hot water recovery. Tank litres alone do not determine whether a system will meet your peak demand.
Does my old system have to be 10 years old?
Do not assume a blanket 10-year rule. VEU and Solar Homes have different requirements. Eligibility needs to be checked against your current system, property, selected product and the rules for the program being used.
Is an upgrade free under the VEU program?
A residential customer contribution applies to VEU hot water upgrades, and installation costs can vary. Ask for an itemised quote showing the product, installation, available discount and your total contribution.
What about noise, warranty and maintenance?
Sound levels and warranty terms vary by model. Placement, clearance and regular maintenance also matter. Confirm the exact product warranty, installation warranty and care instructions before accepting the quote.
